The Roundup gives you a 360-degree look at everything Glide's been up to over the last month.
Hey Muh,
Welcome to the October Roundup. It may be Halloween, but you'll find nothing spooky in this newsletter—only more power! In October we launched four SQL data sources in beta. We also ramped up our efforts in security, somewhat serendipitously, as October was Cyber Security Awareness Month. Oh, and did I mention certification? Lots to cover for October, so...
... let's dive in →
☁️ Introducing SQL Data Sources (beta)
With read-and-write support, you can now directly connect Glide to MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Google Cloud SQL. Start building powerful interfaces on top of your SQL data—no migration required. SQL data sources are available on Enterprise plans. Watch this quick introduction video for more information.
In honor of October being Cyber Security Awareness Month, we want to share how we make your security a top priority at Glide.
"We tap into our engineering team's collective expertise working with the most rigorous cybersecurity compliance frameworks, like FedRAMP, ISO 27001, PCI, GDPR, and SOC 2. We utilize multiple security layers, including open-source tools, automated vulnerability scans, intrusion detection on our infrastructure, and independent penetration tests and security audits."
Are barcodes or QR codes essential to your day-to-day operations? We're happy to announce that as of October, your Glide apps can now scan both barcodes and QR codes. From inventory management to asset tracking, you no longer need to rely on manual inputs, just point and scan, and watch the data flow into your Glide app.
Early in October, we launched Glide Certification, and since then we've seen hundreds of users claim their certificates and badges, share them on their LinkedIn profiles, and grow their Glide expertise. To claim your certification, enrol in Glide university (it's free), review the course materials, and take the test. If you're a more advanced user, just skip ahead to the exam right away. You don't need to complete the course materials before taking the test. Add Glide Certified to your LinkedIn profile today.
To support the launch of our new SQL data sources, we're co-hosting an event on Thursday, November 2nd with Yasin from Voktech, where we'll show you how to build Glide apps layered on top of your SQL databases. Whether you're building on MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Google Cloud SQL, you'll see how to connect the dots and leverage this new Enterprise-grade data source for your Glide apps. RSVP today and join us live later this week.
When Brian discovered Glide, it was a match made in tech heaven. Not only did he leverage Glide to level up his career and skills, but Glide also gained a powerful ally. Brian has joined us on many live events, he's been an active member of our community, and he has been a true advocate for Glide and the no code movement for years. We're so proud to spotlight Brian Banks this month, and give you fine folks a chance to get to know Brian's journey with Glide a little better.
On October 10 & 11, Glide attended the number-one no code event on the planet: No Code Summit. This year's event was hosted in Paris, as there is a large no code community in France. The theme of the conference this year was—unsurprisingly—AI. Our CEO, David Siegel, gave a keynote speech addressing the powerful capabilities of AI and no code, covered our year of power at Glide, and answered many excellent, inspiring questions from the audience.
